Mary Harper is the BBC’s Africa Editor. She has reported from conflict zones on the continent for the past twenty years, with a special interest in Somalia and the growth of Islamism. She is the author of the forthcoming book Getting Somalia Wrong?: Faith, War and Hope in a Shattered State to be published by Zed Press in February next year.
