William Dalrymple is the author of several notable works of non-fiction including, The City of Djinns, which won the Thomas Cook Travel Award and the Sunday Times Young British Writer of the Year prize in 1994. His most recent book, Nine Lives: in Search of the Sacred in Modern India, was published in 2009.
