Michael Dibdin was an Irish crime writer. He wrote an eleven novel cycle detailing the life and career of a fictional detective, Aureliano Zen, the first novel of which won the ‘Gold Dagger’ award of 1988. He also wrote seven other books including The Last Sherlock Holmes Story, The Dying of the Light and Thanksgiving. He died in 2007.
