Julia Blackburn’s novels include The Leper’s Companions and My Animals and Other Family. She is also the author of eight works of non-fiction including The Emperor’s Last Stand and Daisy Bates in the Desert: A Woman’s Life Among the Aborigines . Her novel, The Book of Colour, was shortlisted for the Orange Prize in 1997. Her most recent book of non-fiction, Threads: The Delicate Life of John Craske was awarded the overall prize in the East Anglia Book Awards 2015.
