John Wray was born in Washington, DC in 1971 and raised in Buffalo, New York. His first novel, The Right Hand of Sleep, was published in 2001 and won a Whiting Writers’ Award. In 2003 he was selected as one of Granta‘s Best of Young American Novelists. His most recent novel is Lowboy (2009). He lives in Brooklyn.
