Friedo Lampe was a German writer, librarian and editor, born on 4 December 1899, in the northern city of Bremen. His books include At the Edge of the Night, The Dark Boat and September Thunderstorm. At the end of World War Two Lampe was shot by Russian soldiers who suspected him of being a member of the SS.
