Frederic Prokosch (1906-1989) was an American writer, poet and translator. His novels include Nine Days to Mukalla, A Tale of Midnight, and The Wreck of the Cassandra. His ‘Niagara’ (Granta 9) is taken from his fictional autobiography and last work, Voices.
