Don Bloch is an American author of non-fiction, poetry and seven novels, one of which is extracted in ‘The Modern Common Wind’ as the title piece of Granta 5 (1982), and drawn from a novel of the same title. Bloch spent a year in western Kenya working with anthropologists on a study of the treatment of leprosy.
