Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida was born in Angola in 1982 and raised in Portugal. She is the author of Esse cabelo (That Hair) and more recently of Ajudar a cair (Helping to Fall), an account of a community of patients with cerebral palsy. She lives in Lisbon.
