Allen Kurzweil was born in New York City in 1960. His first novel, A Case of Curiosities, was published in 1992 and won the Premio Grinzane Cavour in Italy. In 1994 he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and in 1996 he was selected as one of Granta‘s Best Young American Novelists.
