Bernard Crick (1929 – 2008) was a distinguished political scientist and Emeritus Professor of Politics at Birkbeck College, London. His books include In Defence of Politics (1962), Essays on Politics and Literature (1989), and Democracy: A Very Short Introduction (2002).
