Anthony Bailey is a British art historian and writer. His books include Vermeer: A View of Delft (2002), Standing In The Sun: a life of J. M. W. Turner (1998) and John Constable: A Kingdom of His Own (2007). He was also a long-term contributor to the New Yorker.
I come from a generation which still, fifty-odd years on, looks up and once in a while thinks, 'Good, one of ours.'
