Christine Lo
Managing Editor, Granta Books
I work with freelance copy-editors, proofreaders, indexers and typesetters to see our books from manuscript through to page proofs and finished copies. I also maintain our publication schedules. I like thinking about how language works and being organised. It’s very satisfying to hold the printed book at the end of the process. Before I joined Granta in 2007 I was an editor at Weidenfeld & Nicolson/Orion, Toby Eady Associates and Hachette Children’s. I’ve also worked as a German–English translator and have translated several books.
A book I love from Granta’s backlist: Straw Dogs by John Gray.
My favourite book in translation: Knulp by Hermann Hesse (translated by Ralph Manheim).
