Four O. Henry Prize Winning Stories Published by Granta
Of the twenty winners of the 2021 O. Henry Prize, four stories were published by Granta. Fiction in translation was considered for the first time this year, and all of the translated winners were published by Granta. These stories are:
• ‘Grief’s Garden’ by Caroline Albertine Minor, translated from the Danish by Caroline Waight, first published in Granta 149, Europe: Strangers in the Land
• ‘Malliga Homes’ by Sindya Bhanoo
• ‘To the Dogs’ by Jianan Qian
• ‘Scissors’ by Karina Sainz Borgo, translated from the Spanish by Elizabeth Bryer
Other authors who have won the 2021 O. Henry Prize this year are Emma Cline, Anthony Doerr, Tessa Hadley, David Means and Sally Rooney – all of whom have had other fiction published by Granta.
