Derek Gow has been involved with the restoration of native wildlife species for over thirty-five years. He has played a significant role in the reintroduction of the Eurasian beaver, water vole and white stork and is working with others to produce a reintroduction strategy for wildcats. Derek wrote the bestselling book Bringing Back the Beaver, and is now working on a history of the wolf in Britain, The Hunt for the Iron Wolf, forthcoming from Chelsea Green.
‘One in seven British species is now threatened with extinction. Many more, from the grey wolf to the blue stag beetle, are already long gone.’
