Carolyn Forché has published four books of poetry, Gathering the Tribes (1976), The Country Between Us (1981), The Angel of History (1994) and Blue Hour (2003). Between 1978 and 1980 she made a number of trips to El Salvador, where she worked as a journalist and a human rights advocate. She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Scranton in 2010.
