Andrés Ibáñez was born in Madrid. He published his first novel La musica del mundo (World Music) in 1995. His most recent novel, Brilla, mar del Edén (Shine, Sea of Eden), was awarded the Premio Nacional de la Crítica in 2014. A jazz pianist, he writes also music criticism for various publications.
