Mbozi Haimbe, Kikuko Tsumura and Polly Barton win the 2020 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers
The PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers recognizes twelve emerging fiction writers each year for their debut short story published in a literary magazine or cultural website. Kikuko Tsumura’s story ‘The Water Tower and the Turtle’, translated from the Japanese by Polly Barton, and Mbozi Haimbe’s story ‘Madam’s Sister’ are both winning stories for 2020. They will be published in the annual anthology entitled The PEN America Best Debut Short Stories.
