Commissioning Editor, Granta Books

I joined Granta’s editorial team as an assistant in 2012, after completing the Issues in Modern Culture MA at UCL and a brief spell in the antiquarian book trade. Moving from antique books to contemporary literature was an exciting change for me because almost all of the authors I now work with are still alive. I commission, acquire and edit brilliant writers working in English or in other languages, including Eli Goldstone, Nina Leger and Ho Sok Fong. I like unconventional literary fiction, cultural criticism with a personal bent, and books that offer fresh perspectives on our society.

A book I love from Granta’s backlist: Dogs at the Perimeter by Madeleine Thien.

My favourite thing about the job: the free Granta tote bags – the best in the business.
