Mieko Kawakami

Mieko Kawakami’s first novella, My Ego Ratio, My Teeth, and the World was published in 2007 and was awarded the Tsubouchi Shoyo Prize for Young Emerging Writers. In the following year, Kawakami published her second novella, Breasts and Eggs, which won the Akutagawa Prize and sold 250,000 copies. The novella was translated into Norwegian, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean and other languages. Her subsequent works include two novels, Heaven and All the Lovers in the Night, a short story collection Dreams of Love, Etc, two collections of prose poems Sentan de sasuwa sasareruwa soraeewa and Water Vessel and nine collections of essays.
