Maggie Gee has published more than a dozen acclaimed books, most recently, Virginia Woolf in Manhattan (Telegram Books, 2014). Others include The Burning Book (1983), Light Years (1985), Where Are the Snows (1991), The Ice People (1998), The White Family (shortlisted for the Orange Prize 2002 and the International Impac Prize), The Flood (2004) and My Cleaner (2005). She is the first female chair of the Royal Society of Literature and a Visiting Professor at Sheffield Hallam University. Her work has been translated into eleven languages. In 1983, she was named one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists.
