Jorge Ibargüengoitia
Jorge Ibargüengoitia Antillón (1928-1983), originally from the Basque countries in Spain, was a novelist and playwright. The Dead Girls (Granta 5, 1982) was his first work to appear in English. In 1955, Ibargüengoitia was awarded a Rockefeller grant to study in New York City, and in 1960, he received the Mexico City Literary Award. He died in a plane crash in 1983.
