Joanna Kavenna grew up in various parts of Britain and has also lived in the US, France, Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic States. She is the author of several works of fiction and non-fiction including The Ice Museum, Inglorious, The Birth of Love and A Field Guide to Reality. Her work has appeared in publications including the New Yorker, the London Review of Books, the Guardian, the Times Literary Supplement, and the New York Times. She has held writing fellowships at St Antony’s College, Oxford, and St John’s College, Cambridge. In 2008 she was awarded the Orange Prize for New Writing and in 2013 she was named one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists.
