James Tate

James Tate (1943–2015) was the recipient of many prominent literary awards throughout his career, including The Yale Series of Younger Poets Award, the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the William Carlos Williams Award, the Academy of American Poets Wallace Stevens Award. Tate, born in Kansas City, Missouri, was a member of the American Academy; he authored over eighteen books and many more chapbooks and booklets; he taught at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and lived in Pelham, Massachusetts. His posthumous book, The Government Lake, will be released in July 2019 from Ecco HarperCollins.
