Kapka Kassabova was born and raised in Bulgaria and educated in New Zealand. She is the author of the poetry collections Someone Else’s Life and Geography for the Lost (Bloodaxe). Her childhood memoir Street Without a Name (Portobello) was shortlisted for the Dolmann Travel Book of the Year and the 2009 Prix européen du livre. Her novel Villa Pacifica is out this year (Penguin NZ). She is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Strathclyde University and lives in Edinburgh because of its tropical climate.
